Rob Swenson is an award-winning composer, conductor, and music educator. In 2007, he founded the Heritage Youth Choirs, a faith-centered community choral program for children and youth. Under his direction, the program has grown to over 300 members and performed inspirational programs for audiences in 30 US states. In 2008, he joined the faculty at American Heritage School – a Christian-based private school in American Fork, Utah – where he directs the high school choirs. Rob's choirs consistently receive 'superior' ratings at state festivals and have accepted invitations to perform for the UMEA mid-winter conference, the ACDA Utah conference, and the ACDA Western Division Conference. He has been recognized alongside other community influencers in Utah Valley Magazine's "Fabulous 40" feature and was the recipient of the Rosalie J. Slater Teaching in Excellence Award. His original composition, “Go Forth From This House,” was premiered in the inaugural ACDA Utah composition contest and is distributed by Santa Barbara Music Publishing. His "Christmas Hosanna" won the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir Christmas Carol
Commission. As the guest conductor of the 2019 Utah High School Women's Honor Choir, he was commissioned by UMEA to write
a new piece based on the Sarah Teasdale text "Leaves." He holds a DMA in choral conducting from the University of Utah, a master's degree in music education from Brigham Young University and Level III OAKE-endorsed Kodály certification. He is an alumnus of the John Ness Beck Choral Composers Workshop where he studied composition with Craig Courtney, Dan Forrest, and Howard Helvey. He resides in Pleasant Grove with his wife, Kristy, their three boys, and a four-year-old princess.
